Chuck Todd: ‘Make him Grandpa Biden and embrace it’ rather than ‘treating him like a Faberge egg’

Elections in Ohio, Virginia, and Kentucky saw massive wins for Democrats and abortion rights advocates. Chuck Todd, Brendan Buck, and Alencia Johnson join Andrea Mitchell to break down the results and what they could mean for the 2024 presidential race. “Sometimes we have a messaging issue, because if you talk to voters about the president’s agenda, if you talk to voters about the policies that either he’s passed or the policies that he stands for – with Republican opposition, the reason that we can’t achieve some of these wins – they are for those,” Johnson says. Chuck adds, “The point is that they are winning the argument on substance, right? I do think that President Biden’s problem is age and he can’t do anything about it.” To change voters’ perception, Chuck notes the Biden campaign should “be putting him out there more. Let people get comfortable with him. He is who he is. Make him Grandpa Biden and embrace it, rather than pretending, sitting here treating him like a Faberge egg.”

Yeah, Biden is old, it can not be disputed, and if his campaign keeps trying to tiptoe around it, it just lets Trump and his cronies make stuff up about it with no counter narrative.

I like Grandpa Biden! Biden has the respect of the international community and the experience to do a good job for the American people. Embrace Grandpa Biden and vote Blue.

The Democrats don’t have a messaging issue. The Beltway media is always harder on the Democrats and their reporting is bad. Republicans can get away with murder and the media barely shrugs. Ever since Nixon started railing against the “liberal media”, the media has overcorrected to a point where they don’t put the Republicans on blast for a resurrection , but they make an issue of Biden owning a Peloton bike. Report Biden’s achievements without denigrating them (example, “Bidenomics clearly isn’t working”. Presented as fact by this news host.). The fact that Biden is losing in some of these (not all) polls isn’t a failure of Democrats, it’s thanks to some sloppy reporting from the Fourth Estate. They need to clean up their house before passing judgement.

When Republicans say they want more "states rights", just remember what you learned in grade school history class. That narrative was created by the UDoC(United Daughters of the Confederacy). They say the south wanted "States Rights". Red State Republicans are scrambling for more rights to subvert precedent and the Supreme Court rulings. Roe V Wade showed us what they will do if they get a majority. They are still fighting their "Lost Cause" and wont stop. VOTE BLUE and preserve your rights.

SELF-DESTRUCTIONS IS THE ENDGAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" No one, but president Biden himself is going to be responsible for his downfall, not because of his age ( WE THE DEMOCRATS LOVES BERNIE ), neither because of any of his Republican opponents. Let me break it down for for you: REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO HILLARY IN 20216 ????????????? That's exactly what's gonna to Biden comes 2024 ( TOTAL BOYCOTT ), which doesn't mean we are going to votes for any of his opponents.

Objectively, Biden has done more positive for Americans and his party than any president since FDR and even held debt to a minimum. He deserves America's support and vote EVEN if he were on life support next November. Talk of ditching Biden is the malarkey of ivory-towered, spoilt children, willing to let the media blow smoke up their a** to conjure the election as a horse race. I voted for Biden reluctantly, but he has far, far exceeded expectations.

It seems crazy to me that Biden is unpopular. He has been so smart and done so much good and demonstrated so much dignity and courage. I think the polls are false.

I'm voting for 🇺🇸 President Joe Biden in 2024 .He is a good man with compassion , empathy and intelligence and has class too. Donald Trump is a Traitor and a Clear and Present Danger to the United States of America and people . He wants to be a Dictator or King 👑 of our country. He wants to destroy our Democarcy !!……….❤⚖🤍⚖💙

If president biden were tepublican, guess what they woukd saying about him. They would say hes the best weve had in generations. His age would be honored even more than Reagan's Alzheimer's and Nancy's clairvoyant readings. They would point out his amazing accomplishments as a sign of maturity, wisdom and character. They would point out that his speech impediment was a result of him overcoming a serious childhood stutter. They would surround him with prayer warriors so he could live longer and continue to grow our country. Let's 8:51 support our wise and loving leader.

We in GB thought and still think Trump was and is a laughing stock, and seeing just how low the IQ is of his followers is,and their age,was truly shocking.I cant imagine how these people have gone through 50,60,70yrs of their lives that stupid.

Biden will clearly win in the states that are securing women's rights to their choices regarding healthcare. They are not going to vote for Donald Trump and they are not going to stay home. I know the media has to keep controversy stirred up to attract clicks and eyeballs but reality is reality and no amount of spin will alter that. Joe Biden will be re-elected if for no other reason (and there are others) than HE IS NOT DONALD TRUMP; THE CATALYST FOR THE OVERTURNING OF ROE V WADE. HE COULDN'T GET ELECTED IF HE WAS GIVING AWAY FREE MONEY AND ALL YOU STORYLINE HUSTLERS KNOW THAT.

Biden is getting older, but, atleast, he can still walk, run, and using bicycle to exercise.
Trump is heavy, cannot walk, he used golf-cart to move around his golf-coure when he plays golf.
Trump said " Biden is declined in cognitive function ". Guess what ??? Trump mixed up the names of the cities when he was in IA in his speech.
Sioux City, IA and Sioux Falls, SD. Trump didn't know which one he was in at the time of his speech ( someone came to tell him in his ear ).

Chuck Todd hit the nail on the head yet again. No amount of communication and messaging is going to change Biden's age. Everyone knows that the 80's are a big step in terms of ageing. Just look at Mitch McConnell and consider that Biden's going to be older than him by the time he gets elected. People are excited about Democrats, their policies, values, message, and the fact that they have a vibrant younger generation of leaders. The message from the polls is just that they are not excited about voting for Biden, regardless of his accomplishments. If Biden remains the nominee, Dems need to think hard about who should be VP, because that's who centrist voters are going to look at when they make their decision.

I miss Chuck Todd hosting Meet the Press. I've stopped watching it after he left, it's just not at the same level.

Dems will win back Congress next year. Control the senate. But Biden will lose the presidency to a guy with leprechauns dancing around in his head. Gavin Newton step forward. Please. Somebody!!!

Can someone tell me what Joe Biden is doing that is not benefitting the American people? Infrastructure bill? Best economy in the world? Least inflation in the G7? Highest employment rates in 40yrs? Is these what makes him weak? Then you definitely don't know what you want. Go to sleep.
