Romney is only moderate and decent compared with 95% of his R colleagues who are now so anti-truth and anti-democracy that they have become a despicable swamp gang, not a legitimate, principled political organization. Where was this supposedly courageous and honest Romney while trump was wrecking our democracy and further dividing the nation? Romney was silent, voting largely with trump's position again and again as he went along to get along. Did he speak out forcefully about the numerous offenses committed by trump or the moral bankruptcy of his party as it became a cesspool of dishonesty, corruption, cowardice and authoritarian sentiments? Now that he's retiring, he finally speaks up about stuff that he abided in silence, hidden from the public for years. Where have we heard that before?
Romney just needs to go away. He will never have the charisma Trump has. He just likes to criticize Trump. That way he can sell his book.

Once again, this class of people who choose to remain silent during critical moments in American History. Then after their (Mille, Bolton, Comey) books are released, we discover they knew more. They should be criticized instead of on best seller lists. Being oblivious to the concers of American people in public service should be at the very least? An ethics crime.

I dunno. IF some of those GOP members were honest when they said they were afraid for their families if they voted for impeachment, then I can accept that as an excuse. Keep in mind, I'm saying "IF" as a caveat. IF they truly felt that. And honestly, looking at the behavior of ardent Trumpers and the rhetoric they use, I can see how that was a real fear. It's easy for third parties to look from the outside and say "that's not a good reason you have to do the right thing!" when it's not YOUR family.
