I almost hope Republicans fail to tame the Democrats on these upcoming spending bills, because you KNOW whatever Biden and the Democrats want to do is going to make economic conditions even worse. Mr. Clinton advisor is missing the point about Trump's support holding despite the indictments.
The ONLY indictment that, IMO, holds any water legally is the documents case.
The NY case is completely bogus. Trump made a false entry in his business ledger. A crime that has never, to my knowledge, been successfully prosecuted under similar circumstances. No one expects someone to enter porn star hush money under the heading "porn star hush money". Regardless, it's a misdemeanor and the statute of limitations has expired.
DA Bragg is trying to bump it up to a felony by saying Trump did it to conceal another crime. What crime? Not using campaign funds to pay the hush money. The FEC, who has jurisdiction, already investigated the matter, and declined to cite him for a violation of campaign finance law.
The Georgia case? Fani WIllis is using the magical transmogriphying powers of RICO to turn a cluster of lawful acts into a criminal conspiracy. She literally accuses him in one part of the indictment of unlawfully importuning Raffensperger to violate his oath of office by unlawfully "decertifying the election […] or whatever the correct legal remedy is." It's ridiculous.
The Jan 6 federal case? Apparently Trump was part of a criminal conspiracy via telepathy.
Trump supporters view these cases as the utter excrement they are.
The documents case? Trump was president. He took presidential documents along with a boat load of personal papers and records. He was working with NARA to sort the matter out. To determine which documents he had to hand over and which he did not, and he had already handed over plenty.
Compare with the Hillary case. She was Secretary of State. She shared classified information on an unsecured private server and on unsecured unauthorized devices, sometimes with individuals who had no business having access to them. A clear violation of the Espionage Act. She retained those documents after she left office. Another violation. Then, when her server was subpoenaed, she wiped it with BleachBit and destroyed her devices. Obstruction of justice, evidence tampering. And yet according to the FBI Director, "no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."
Trump supporters view THAT as selective prosecution.
We KNOW why they're doing this, and we know why they're doing it now. It's to keep him out of the Oval by any means necessary. And if corrupt actors like this want him out so desperately, we want him in.
